There are a lot of factors that causes itching. These are flea allergies, food allergies and atopy. Stress, bacterial infection, or yeast infection can also cause itching. So treatment may vary and it is best that a vet should take a look at your dog. A physical exam is important to have the right diagnosis and treatment. Eliminating each cause can help you treat your puppy. Check your dog for fleas. If there are no fleas, try changing her food. Low quality food contain ingredients that can cause itching. In changing dog food from one brand or type it must be done gradually. Initially mix 25% of the new food to 75% of the old food in the first 2 days increasing it to a 50-50% ratio on day 3-4, 75% new food to 25% old food on today 5-6 and 100% new food on day 7. If you eliminated two possible factor and your dog is still scratching, it is advisable to consult a vet for the right diagnosis, treatment and medication. Take care and good luck.
