My jack russells front leg dislocates whenever she runs to hard (chasing a ball). She wines and cries in pain and holds her leg out until I can pull onit and put it back in place. in a few short minutes shes out running again. She is almost 11 yrs old. What causes this and what can be done to help her. ball play was her favorite game. I can't risk it anymore...

If your vet is comfortable and has done orthopedic procedures before she/he may be able to help with surgery or they may refer you out to a specialist. Surgery may not be indicated and possibly could be helped with medications for pain and something to help regenerate cartiledge. Firstly, you should get into see your vet and they can discuss with you what or if there is a problem that can be fixed and what options there are. I hope I helped and thank you for your question.
