hard lump/mass above left anal sac

Hi. 5 days ago my dog had an impacted anal sac drained and packed with ointment and she is on clavamax and baytril. There is some lessening of the infection but there is still a hard mass above the left anal sac that extends up onto her rear next to the top of her tail. You can't see much so a picture won't help. You can just feel it. It's also quite painful for her if I touch that area.
I'm concerned that it's a tumor. My vet said it may just be scar tissue. How do you know the difference? Thank you for your help.

Scar tissue feel like thicken skin and a tumor can feel dense, formed or fatty. Keep a watchful eye on it and ask your vet if you can help the drainage and soreness by placing a warm compress to the area once or twice a day- they will instruct you on how to do so if they feel its indicated. I hope I helped and thank you for your question.

Your descriptions of tumors and scars didn't help me very much. Can you elaborate? I need better descriptions and more information about tumors, etc. You should not have replied to the question if you aren't a vet and can't tell me more than what you have.
