Cat had Blocked Bladder

Boo has just come back from the vets after having been in for 5 days with a blocked bladder. They have unblocked it, and sent him home with antibiotics and other tablets to help his bladder cope. There is now blood in his urine, is this normal after having this produce and having the catheter removed or should I be very worried ?

    Hello!

I would advise that you monitor the blood in the urine. Due to catheter placement and removal there will be a certain amount of trauma to the urethra and bladder area so some blood is to be expected. The antibiotics will help with this. The main things to watch out for are that he is urinating good amounts with no straining. It may be that he goes little and often at first as his bladder relaxes and adapts to normal urination once more. But DO monitor how much he is passing to ensure no re blockage again.

    I hope this helps.
