warts?

I've noticed recently that my dog has these wart like bumps. One on the top of his head, it almost looked like a tick at first, doesn't bother him at all, just looks yuckie. Then today while trimming his nails I noticed another one on the inside of his back leg, just above his knee. Its about the size of a dime and sticks up about an inch. Are these sort of growths normal in a dog his age? He seems very loppy and skitish lately which is not normal. I'm not sure if I should take him in or not.

    Hello!

Older dogs are certainly likely to get 'wart type' growths. However, you can never be certain that they are JUST warts until they are looked at or a fine need aspirate sample is taken to obtain cells. The vet is likely to see if it is a warty lump by looking at it. I would advise, as with any lump or bump, to get him checked by your local vet to be certain of what they are rather than to leave them and assume they are just warts. It would also then be a good opportunity for you to mention that he has seemed a little lethargic/skittish of late.

I hope this is of help to you.
