Fleas develop an immunity to the pesticide in spot-on flea treatment over time. Switching to a similar product is dangerous and will likely not work. Considering that we now think spot-on treatments might cause seizurers and even fatalities.

You can get rid of fleas naturally, it just takes a bit more work. First use a flea comb on your dog. Then bathe her with a shampoo with neem oil which repels fleas and ticks. You can sprinke her with baking soda (the fleas basically drown in it) or a natural flea powder with DE which actually cuts the fleas in half. This can also be used around the home and yard. Wash all of your pet's bedding and all of your bedding. Vacuum the house thoroughly. Repeat this for a few days. There's also a natural squeeze-on oil from Sentry and rechargable flea collars. Many of these items can be found at www.onlynaturalpet.com. Good luck!

I live in Florida the flea capital of the world.  Most of the flea products are tried here before going to the rest of the United States.  We have fleas year round here.  The latest product currently being used down here with great success is a product called Comfortis.  It is made by ELI Lilly or now known as Elanco.  You can go directly to there website for questions about the product.  It works similarly to a product called Capstar.  It kills the fleas after they bite and get a blood meal.  All fleas on the body die within an hour after your dog has ingested the pill.  The great thing about Comfortis is that it lasts for 6 weeks.  You can continue to bathe your pet because it doesn't wash off.  We have had people that were totally infested with there dogs having flea allergies and no hair come to us the next month telling us this is the miracle cure.  I still encourage people to treat there homes every two weeks and give a pill once a month.  Good luck, I hope this information helps.  Andrea

I, too had a bad problem with fleas. I was using the advantage treatment, which semed like it would work for a week or so, but after that the fleas would be back. I talked to my vet about it and she recommended the Comfortis. So far it has been great. I gave it to my dog 2 weeks ago and haven't seen a flea since- knock on wood. I have also heard that you can use some of the other flea medications along with the comfortis. I haven't tried this yet because comfortis has done such a good job. Good luck

Many people use a topical treatment like advatage, frontline or advantix but these can cause some dogs to become greasy and alot of pet owners don't want to be exposed to the strong chemicals used in theses flea treatments. There is a new product called Comfortis that will kill all the fleas on your dog within 30mins. and keep them off for an entire month. It comes in an easy to use chewable that my dogs love!!!! It should be availible at your local vet but it is important to give it with a meal to prevent an upset tummy. Hope this helps, Lizzy
