Dog has Lump on Chest

Rating: 8

My 7 year old 85 lb mixed breed (Shepherd, Chow, Black Lab) has a golf ball sized lump on his left side between the first two back most ribs. Is this serious? Does he need to see a vet? He is eating and pooping and seems to be OK otherwise.
Thanks

Hi there, I always tell my clients "A lump is a lump until it is investigated!" In other words, the question you are asking is not really answerable without seeing the lump in person. It could be something as simple as a lipoma (fatty build-up, benign) or something as bad as a mast-cell tumor (these are usually malignant). So, I would definitely advise an office visit! All the best.
