Bladder

Rating: 8
Prince
Prince

Prince has been trained since he was a puppy and I never had any problems with him peeing in the house, but about a month ago it started to where when I get up in the morning he has peed all over his pee pads that I leave down at night, and not only have those soaked, but he has wet his bed and several different spots on the floor of the room where he stays. He seems to do ok during the day when I am home, but only when I am gone for 5 or 6 hours at a time and at night. I would like to know what might be causing his bladder problem and if there is anything I can do for him?

It would be advisable to visit your vet to make sure his bladder is ok.

If it is then it might be a behavioural problem. What do you do when he has soiled his bed? If you have started to get cross then this might increase the problem. Therefore, stop reacting to it, clean it up and act as if nothing was wrong. if this continues you will need the support of a qualified companion animal behavioural  to help you work out why your dog may be  becoming anxious when left for this long.

But do contact your vet first to make sure there is nothing medically wrong first.

    All the best

But why after 5 years would he decide to start misbehaving? We do just clean it up and act as if nothing is wrong, but since this just started about a month ago, we were wondering if there could be something wrong? We have left him for 5 or 6 hours before and always held it until we got home. He is overweight and we were wondering if that might be part of the problem

There are many reasons why this may be happening and your first port of call is to visit your vet as soon as possible to rule out any bladder problems. If he is over weight they will suggest a specialised diet regime for him.
