6 yr old rabbit bitten in leg. No idea what animal bit the rabbit. I assume rabies is possible. I have small children. Is the best thing to do is put the rabbit down?

Hello there, I am very sorry to hear about your rabbit's misfortune. Yes, rabies is always possible when an animal is bitten by any wild animal, although depending on wher eyou are in the world, rabies may be less likely than other places. The question I have for you is: is the rabbit completely off its leg? I.e. does it appear broken? Is he miserable and suffering? Eating? I think a visit to the vet would make it a bit clearer on what is going on with him and if there is any hope of treating the leg vs putting him to sleep. Best of luck!
