Are skin tags/moles on dogs common

Rating: 10

I've noticed skin colored mole looking bumps on my 8 yr old dog. What is it and should I be concerned?

If it hangs down in a tear shape, it is most likely a skin tag. Skin tags are benign growths and are not dangerous. However, if it is around the mouth, it should be checked as growths there can be cancerous. If it is attached and looks like a mole, it could be melanoma. You can watch them and see if they grow. Regardless, the only way to check that is to get a biopsy done by your vet.

Thank you, your answer has been very helpful. I will have to keep an eye on it though and possibly have it checked out by a vet. Thanks again.
