Horses skin condition

  • Doc

My Horse has very dry skin. He is not losing any of it. His mane and tail is intact. I have bathed him with medicated shampoo in the past when it was warmer, but it did not improve his condition. I am unsure how to treat his severe dry skin.

The best thing i can advise you to do it get him checked out by a veterinary surgeon just to make sure he has no undeelying illnessses that possibily are causing this dryness. However i have a friend who has horses who is a veterinary Nurse and she has the same problem with her horse but she uses skin so soft from AVON and swears by it. I also am on the Veterinary nursing Dilpoma course and our Lecture on Holistic approaches also included ALoe Vera and Skin so soft spray or cream. The lecturer at the collage actually uses it on the campus goat for the same problem, by all means give it a try i can not do any harm. Please consider allergys, food , new rugs etc.,. please also keep a diary of when it flares up the most etcc...
