Spinal Cord Injury

Rating: 0
Tigger
Tigger

On June 18 my husband noticed that our cat Tigger wasn't walking right. He walked like he had cramps and turned inward toward his left side. On the 19th he started to drag the left hind leg and leaking urine. I called the vet and couldn't get him in until the next day. They checked him for UTI, and blockage, which all came back normal. On Wednesday (June 24) he had lost the use of both hind legs. The vet did an x-ray and it showed compression of the spine and spinal bruising. Thurs, Fri and Sat he was much much better. Saturday he walked around using both hind legs. On Monday when I went to see him, he again lost the use of both hind legs. We were able to bring him home yesterday with Predisone 20mg tablests 1/2 tablet 2 times daily for 4 days then 1/4 tablet twice daily until gone and physical therapy. The vet says that he has a bruised spinal cord. While at the vet he was pooping ok and he started to pee again. Since he has been at home all he has done is leaked. I know it has been less than 24 hours since he came home, but I don't want to miss something while I am at work or for him to be in any pain. Is there any other medication or therapy that we should be using? Also why did he have use of his legs then all of a sudden lose them?
