Hi. Great website! How do you treat constipation in a small dog?

    Hi there. You can add a psyllium husk product into her food. Metamucil, about 1/2 teaspoon into her dinner (once a day). Another option is to add a handful of plain (sugar-free) all-bran into her food. If the constipation persists after 3-4 days, there may be something more serious going on and I would advice a visit to the vet.  There is a doggy formulation of a high fibre supplement, Vetasyl Fiber Supplement, available to order here. High fibre supplements should aid defaecation without causing diarrhoea. Also please make sure she has plenty of water available. You can add a small amount of chicken stock to her water to make sure she is drinking. Hope that helps!
