Dog paralysed, help!

Rating: 8
Boo
Boo

Hi, Kohn from Australia here and unfortunately i have a very sick 2 year old terrier 'Boo'. I found him lying on the ground unable to move a muscle and his legs and forearms very stiff. An hour before this i was playing ball with him and was in excellent shape. I took him to the vet and bloods were done suspecting poisioning. The bloods came back a day later all clear. He is still unable to stand up and is in a lot of pain when i touch his legs. He has lost his bark and can just murmer out a woof if needed. He still wags his tail but can do nothing else. Hes menmtal alertness is excellent and eats and drinks like there is no tomorrow. My vet hasnt a clule whats wrong with him. Any suggestions?

There are a few things that come to mind like tick paralysis or possible epilepsy. Has your dog been on any form of tick/flea preventative, both ehrlichia and lyme diiease are spread by infected ticks? Ehrlichia or Lyme diease can cause joint pain, I would highly recommened him getting tested for both of those diseases - there could be a possibility that you may catch it early enough to help the symptoms get worse; if it is either one. The tests are run off of a small amolunt of blood but, routine bloodwork would not test for those specifically. Monitor his symptoms (positive and negative progress) and record them if possible for your and the vets records. Also keep an eye on any further complications. I hope Boo getys better and that you and your vet find out what the cause maybe.Thank you

Thank you very much for such a speedy response. Boo was first sick last Tuesday, so I think i can rule out a tick. We checked him all over the first day he collapsed and just then after reading your response. All clear. Today he was given a cortizone injection at my local vets but this has done nothing but made him tired. If it is epilepsy is this serious? what are the chances of recovery either partial or full?. prior to boo's illness, he would often have these crazy spasms where he would flick his legs out while on his back like he was paddling. I used to make a loud noise and he would pull jump out of it. Is there any connection? Thanks for your time.
