sickness, diarrea

hi.
my dog rin has been ill for the last week!
hes been vomiting and has on off diarrea!
i thought i would try changing his food to see if that would help.
having done so he is still ill and is rapidly losing weight! i will be taking him to a vet tomorrow as i havnt been able to get time off work! but i just wanted your advise first?

    Hi there, I am sorry to hear about Rin. I think bringing him to the vet is your best course of action - you tried the at-home remedy of changing diets and it hasn't worked. The fact that he is vomitting and diarrhea, and showing signs of weight loss is extremely concerning to me. He is likely dehydrated, has electrolyte abnormalities, and needs to be seen by a professional to correct his imbalances and see what might be causing his problems. He will likely need bloodwork and xrays to rule out pancreatitis, liver problems, kidney problems, intestinal problems, etc. So...you have the right idea, take him over to the vet as soon as you can!
