There's a possibility that something may have landed on him or he was jumping and landed wrong. How old is your pug? The older dogs get the more prone to spinal, hip, or knee problems they become. Be careful when moving him because if he is painful, though he may have never done so in the past, he may snap or bite out of pain. Go slowly and support his rear end the best you can. Make a comfortable padded bed with blankets or towels, if you choose to put him on the couch or bed monitor him to prevent him from jumping off if he starts to feel better and wants to get down. I highly recommend him being seen by a vet soon to treat any symptoms and diagnose the issues he is experiencing. DO NOT give any kind of (pet or human) "pain killers" before talking to/seeing your vet. Good luck!
