Hi there. I'm sorry to hear about your cat. Just to clarify- is she kicking with her back legs when you touch her? Is she able to move her back legs at all? There are a couple of possibilities as to why she is unable to use her back legs:

    1. She may have heart disease, which causes her circulation to be sluggish and her blood to clot more easily. There may be a large clot lodged in the major artery that supplies blood to her hindquarters, stopping the blood from reaching her legs. If she has gone into heart failure, she may also have fluid in her chest and trouble breathing.

    2. The hind leg problem may be completely unrelated to her heart. She may have spinal disease- a slipped disc etc. or a traumatic injury to her back/hid legs (is she an outdoor cat?). Trauma is more likely than a slipped disc in a young cat.

Either way, I strongly reccomend that you take her to the vet asap, even as an emergency if neccessary. All the conditions I have mentioned are very painful. Aside from that, she may have heart disease that needs attention asap, and if her spine is the problem, she may not be urinating- build-up of urine can cause a host of other problems! Unfortunately I would be prepared for a very guarded to poor prognosis, although I can't comment definately on this as I haven't examined her. Hope this helps.
