We had our 2yr old great dane to the vet this summer for a routine check up. I told the vet I was concerned with her wt, she had been throwing up occasionally Her ribs were very dominant and she looked skinny. Now she is even skinnier and her spine is showing. She is still throwing up about 3-4times a week give or take. She eats like normal and she is not throwing up at any certain time like right when she gets done eating. Please help I feel like a horrible MOMMY!

Hi, don't feel bad, but this is a problem worth investigating. Firstly, have you been able to weigh her and do you know exactly how much weight she has lost? It's probably normal to be able to see ribs and spinous processes but in a young Dane but probably not if they are very prominent. It would be very helpful to have an exact figure of weight loss over a certain period. Some dogs do vomit quite frequently but this sounds excessive. She may have a dietary intolerance, or some dogs have a problem with gastric outflow obstruction. Assuming your vet found no abnormalities when she was checked up, it would be worth trying a strict dietary trial with prescription food for sensitive stomachs. If this doesn't solve the problem then it would be worth taking her back for further tests. Good luck.
