How long was your dog out in the sun?  Did he have shade and water available?  Adogs normal Temp is around 101 degrees.  You need to take his temperature rectally and if it is  higher then that it is very important to bring it down . You should put wet towels on him to cool him.  Or put him into a cold tub to lower temp.  Once you get the temp down he will need to see a Vet as heat stroke is very dangerous and even deadly.  He probaly needs to be rehydrated and the Vets can do this through IV"s

I have owned my own Pet grooming shop for the last three years in Farmington, MI. I have owned and trained dogs all my life. Currently I am training my rough coated collie in Obedience. Hope to start showing in the fall.

When bringing the temperature down say it is 105 or higher you only want to lower the temp to 103, because you don't want to go to low with your cooling measures or you will be dealing with hypothermia instead of hyperthermia.  Dogs that get heat stroke generally go into secondary shock.  This is a life threatening condition.  Some of these patients require plasma transfusions, hetastarch, fluid therapy.  If caught early enough the better prognosis there is.  If you have to borrow money from friends/family to get your dog the care it needs then do so.  This is not something that you can deal with at home.  You can explain your financial situation to the Vet and maybe they have some different financial options for you there is always Care Credit which you can apply for online.  It is a credit card used for Veterinary Clinics and Dentists.  I hope that helps and good luck, Andrea
