Hello!
A number of things could be the problem here given those symptoms- a sprain/strain will cause soft tissue swelling, infection of some kind can cause the same reaction. Shaking is often pain related so i would advise you take your dog to the vets to get the leg checked as pain relief etc may well be in order to make him more comfortable.

I am unsure how old or what breed your dog is, but shaking is almost always a result of either intense pain or a geriatric condition. Older dogs tend to shake, just as humans do. But more often it is a result of serious discomfort. If the leg is swollen, I would assume tissue injury or pooling of fluid. Either way, your vet will be your best choice. The wound may only require rest... but possibly it is severe enough to need antibiotics or even draining of fluids. Does your dog use the leg at all or does it hold it up while moving around? Is it sensitive to touch? Have you noticed any marks or injuries to the flesh or bones? Also, does your dog have a predominant position it sleeps in? Some dogs who have certain genetic issues and tend to sleep in one position may pool fluid in one joint that is at the lowest point.
