an infected wound

My cat appears to have a small hole in a area that has swollen and is about the size of a quarter. There is a watery blood tinged fluid draining from the hole. Also there is no hair on that area. How should it be treated?

This sounds like a draining abscess to me - is your cat indoor/outdoor? This will definitely need to be seen by a veterinarian, and very likely systemic antibiotics will need to be administered in order to treat the infection.

Yes, I agree this is most likely and abcess. You need to take your pet to the vet so that they can drain it and clean it. You pet will also have to be put on antibiotics and have to stay inside for a few days as well. If you dont get it treated, your pet could get VERY sick, this is exactly what my vet told me.
