My dog is a cockerspanial mix. she has a tumor on her hindquarter. Lately she's been chewing herself raw (open wounds). What is your advise on how to keep from doing this.

Hello...
Well The best thing to do is take him/her to your Vet so the dr. can clean up the wounds and give you an Elizabethan collar (Lamp Shade) on the dogs head to keep him from biting so it can heal. I'm sure you'll be prescribed medication, check out this site for savings on most meds & supplies.
Regards,
Barry

is it safe to give the dog a bath with a shampoo for anti-icht med in it while she has open wounds?

No...mild soap...oatmeal based would be good. Or a very dilute chlorhexidine (hibiscrub) shampoo.
