new pet

Rating: 9

ok sadie is a dog i adopted through a rescue group she had been staying at her old home until i adopted her they have all paperwork stating she had a checkup and shots and all. Ok soo she hasn't gone poop in the almost 4 days I have had her and she eats some of my cats food and a little of table scraps my kids drop but none of her food I put some of my left over beef soup in her bowl and mixed it all up she spit out the dog food (which her previous owner gave me so she would eat) and now she hasn't gone pee for almost a day. I'm starting to think she is one of those dogs that gets too home sick and I dunno what to do, she does drink ok. Is it something she will get over or should I inform the original owner that she shouldn't have been put up for adoption beacuse of the attachment. She is an awesome and beautiful dog so I really want to find out what to do.

Hi.... Well, her whole world just got turned up side down. It will take her a little time to get in the swing of her new home.

One thing is a dog that’s not sick will not starve itself (defense Mechanism) I see this allot with owners; the dog wins the battle of wills. No table food or cat food. She will learn soon it's the dog food or nothing.

any more ?? let me know

I would say by monday. Things to try to get her to eat:  if your feeding dry food to add warm water to food or Chichen broth.she's drinking some so that's good. I'm not too worried about the pooping since she hasn't ate much,so she will not have much to pass.

If she would have been 6 months old I would not have you wait untill monday. Give her some toys to keep her busy, when she makes out side give her praise & for a while even if she does wrong or bad don't get upset unless it was really really bad, because you want to gain her trust and Confidence.

    Talk to ya later.
