elimination habits

I'm puzzled as to why my cat will only defecate in the bath tub. She urinates in the litter box 100% of the time, but will only have bowel movements in the toilet. There are multiple litter boxes in our home, I've made sure they're in private locations, and I've tried a variety of litter. Each time she goes, I clean the spot with a spray-on bleach product, then follow up with a spot-eliminator product. It seems like no matter what I try, she insists on leaving "tootsie rolls" twice a day. Any suggestions?

This sounds like a behavioural problem more than a medical one. We do see this problem quite frequently in cats. I would recommend your vet check a stool sample just to be 100% sure there are no parasites present. If that is all clear, we have a few options: there is a product called Cat Attract which you mix into the normal litter which is made specifically for this problem. Another option is a product called Felaway, which is a pheromone spray/diffuser which is also meant to calm such activity. If these don't work, there are behaviour modifying medications you can try, which you would obviously need to get from your veterinarian. Best of luck!
