My cat cries!!!

Ichabod

Hello, I have a 3 year old cat that has recently (within the past few months) become quite a whiner. About a year ago we began closing our bedroom door so that he could not come in while we were sleeping. He was fine with it for awhile. Now, he sits outside of our door and cries all night and bangs on the door with his paws. When we do open it to see what he wants he runs and hides. I'm not sure why he has suddenly started doing this, we've tried numerous things like playing with him before bed to tire him out, ignoring him, waking up and giving him attention, etc. I need sleep!!! Please help!

Ichabod what a fabulous name for a cat.

Cats tend to be more active around dawn and dusk when all the little mice are active so cats tend to want to go out during these periods to hunt and secure territories etc. This is quite normal and annoying for cats as their can and door openers are usually tucked up in bed. However, Ichabod has now learned a clever trick of crying and waking you up. This is a good game which works for him.

Has he access to the outside so he can go out and hunt? If not why don't you try and increase his internal space by adding more areas to jump up on to, toys to hunt or even build him a cat extension so he can get out without  getting lost so he can survey all he owns. Then go out and buy some ear plugs.

Good Dog? Bad Dog? By Rosie Barclay. This book concentrates on changing the traditional views of how we perceive and treat our dogs using what we have learned from scientific research so far. It starts at the beginning by looking at ways of how to chose and bring up a new puppy that may reduce the likelihood of future problems. It then goes on to cover different problems that commonly occur between owners and their maturing or adult dogs by discussing real case studies. TO BUY VISIT www.rosiebarclay.com

Ichabod is an indoor cat and always has been. He has a TON of toys and stair cases, scratching posts, etc. I guess ear plugs are our only option huh?
