A Puzzling Case

Josie
Josie

Our Miniature Dachshund, Josie, has numerous hard, nearly baseball-sized swellings around her neck and chest area. She is also appears morbidly obese, - though she gets 1 cup of food each day - and smaller, softer "fatty tumors" can be felt throughout her back and stomach area. These lumps have been aspirated by our veterinarian and have been concluded as only fatty tumors. However, they have continued to grow and are to the point that they are inhibitory to her ability to walk, eat, breathe, etc.

Within the last few weeks, Josie has begun showing swelling in her lymph nodes. She also exhibits a nasal and sometimes anal discharge that is yellowish and opaque. I am wondering 1) if these symptoms are linked to the fatty tumors and 2) if anyone might have any ideas of a diagnosis. I have, unfortunately, begun to consider cancer of the lymph nodes, but find it strange that only fat cells were aspirated from her tumors.

Any suggestions or help anyone may have would be greatly appreciated!!! We've been told that she is just fat, but I feel like there could be some underlying things that haven't been considered.
