I have a 6 year old shih tzu female, spayed last year. crying and turning, or digging in bed. settles for a bit, then does it again. one week ago, groomer cleaned the anal gland, a couple of days later, this started. local vet checked her out, could find nothing visible wrong. suggested that she was sore from the cleaning, and held the poop until she was really in pain. can you help us?

could this be a new way to get more attention? she still cries but now stops soon after I pick her up and hold her. thanks, carolyn
