Hi,
Small amounts of blood in the stool are relatively common. If it is just specs of blood, or thin strands, then I would just starve 24hrs (water freely available throughout) FOLLOWED BY A BLAND DIET OF CHICKEN AND BOILED RICE FOR 3 DAYS.
If however the stools appear red throughout, or black and tarry, then you need to take Rocko to a veterinarian ASAP.
Good luck

Blood in your dogs stool can be a symptom of many things. Does the blood appear at the end of the stool or thru out the stool? If the blood is at the end of the stool it usually indicates a collitis. If the blood is thru out the stool it can be an indication of many different things. I would recommend that a fecal examination be performed to rule out intestinal parasites. Blood in the stool can also be an indication that the food your dog is ingesting is not agreeing with him/her. So stopping the food your feeding for 24 hours is a good idea and placing him/her on a bland diet would be recommended. Chicken and white rice. I usually go and get the Gerber#2 chicken baby foods and I mix that with about 4 cups of white rice and I mix it in the microwave. I feed him small amount every 2 hours and make sure I provide plenty of water. If vomiting occurs or lethargy sets in going to an Emergency Vet or your regular Vet are indicated. Good luck.
