Hi there.  How was your dog diagnosed? Were there any tests done? The most reliable way to look at the spine is by an MRI scan.  Nerves are not visible on x-rays but you can sometimes see evidence of spinal disease.  However, it is not possible to fully assess the spinal cord on an x-ray.  Is your dog able to use his back legs? If so, I would keep him strictly confined (preferably a cage) and carry him out a couple of times a day for a brief period for urination/defaecation. Continue the meds for now and rest him and if he is not showing an improvement within 7-10 days, take him back to the vet and if it is indeed a spinal/nerve problem, you can request a referral to a neurologist.  However, if he is having difficulty using his back legs, is very painful when you touch his back, or is unable to urinate, I would advise a re-visit to the vet much sooner. Hope this helps!
