Red lump on right shoulder

Rating: 10

The lump is about the size of a pea. It's red, not hard. The vet gave me some cream to put on it but it seems to be making it worse. Was wondering if you could tell me what it might be. I hope it's not cancer. It started out as a small mole like, since I've been putting the cream on it seems to be getting worse. I discontinued using it on her. We have had her since January 14th. She was born 4th of November 2007.
Hope you can help me. I would hate to lose her. She weighs 4lb 8oz.
Thank you
Gloria Thorpe

    Dear Gloria,

You have done the right thing is the cream was making the lump worse.

The easiest way to find out what this lump is is what is called a fine needle aspirate. It is a simple procedure; your vet will insert a needle into the lump to gather some cells which can then be examined under a microscope. Hopefully this will give you an answer. If not then the other option is to remove the lump altogether and send it to the lab for analysis.

    Best wishes

    Matthew
