What are the directions for dipping with Paramite

My 94 year old mother adopted a rescue dog (Rosie) about a month ago. She scratches constantly and sometimes whimpers when she scratches. I took her for a check up and the vet found no fleas, etc. There are no obvious spots to check for mange. I was told to give her Benadryl to see if it helped. It did not.

We had a prescription for Paramite from an earlier dog and I dipped her with that solution. Unfortunately I have lost the directions except to use 1 oz. with 1 gallon of water and sponge onto the entire body. How long do I need to wait before I dip her again? How many times should I expect to dip her before I can stop? Do you have other suggestions?

    Hi there,

Paramite has been discontinued but the intructions are

Mix 1 oz (2 tbsp) Paramite with 1 gallon of water. Sponge on dog until the skin is wet. Allow to dry on dog. Allow dog to dry before handling. When treating a dog for sarcoptic mange, if no improvement is seen in 14 days, consult a veterinarian.
It kills flea for up to 16 days so i would think that you would have to re-aaply it after this.

I would recommend a Spot on Flea treatment like Stronghold as it also protects for a much longer time and controls fleas, ticks and sarcoptic mange.

If no improvement is seen i would take her for a check up it could be an allergy to something,

    Hoep she improves soon.

Can I reuse Paramite after 1 week? Two weeks? I have heard that mange sometimes takes 1 month of treatment to completely rid the dog of the problem.

I would do it weekly. Mange can be quite difficult to treat.

But if it is not mange the symptoms will continue after treatment.

Usually the vet would do skin scrapes to check for mites, the classic area for mange are the ears and belly.

Also beware of using Paramite if it is past its use by date as the chemicals can start to degrade and may not even work efficiently.

    good luck.
