Possible UTI or cat just mad at me?

My male cat whom is about 14 months old was caught last night peeing on a plastic bag. I have been looking online at possible UTI symtomps. The only one he displayed was the not peeing in his litter box its happened twice in about a month. I just started a job that has me working nights. Also he shares a litter box with his sister cat. They are both nuetered and spayed niether has ever done this before.I am thinking it might just be he is mad at me for the job change and also wants the litter cleaned or changed more often. I looked at the pee he left on the bag out in the natural light, it was sorta an amberish color but I saw no blood. He also is not crying when he pees, as no crystals in or around his penis and is peeing what seems like a normal amount. He is very active and is ok with you touching or pressing lightly on his belly ab area. Should I get him checked for an UTI or see if changing the litter, adding more litter boxes to the house will help? I can be emailed at ffcat128@aol.com
thanks for the advice.

UTI's are common in male cats. I would recommend taking him into the vet to rule out that possibility. If if persists without treatment, sometimes blockage can become very, very painful. If he checks out clean at the vet, than it could be other factors that are more behavioral. Sometimes a new pet in the house, multiple cats using one litter box (instead of one box per kitty), changes in routine or environment or changing of litter brands could be the cause. Best regards!
