This is a little miscroscopic parasite that tends to cause diarrhea or bloody stool and is very common in young puppies. It is usually easily treatable by several drugs of the sulpha class such as albon, TMS or Primor.

People can get this too and it is contracted by ingesting infected stool, so good general hygeine will help prevent it ( and I have never had a client get an intestinal parasite yet!). So wash your hands after dealing with the puppy, don't let the puppy lick your mouth and pick up the stool as soon as the puppy goes so that she doesn't have the chance to eat it and reinfect herself.

Make sure that once your puppy has finished the medication you ask your vet to recheck the stool to make sure it has resolved.

    I hope this helps
