There are several things you can do to prepare for the delivery. First of all it is best to pick a warm quiet dim place where she will feel safe. If you have several choices in your home, it is best to pick a room where she most commonly rests/sleeps. You also want to try to set up a nesting box in an area where you can check in on it, maybe just once a day, invading her spot too often may force her to move her kittens. Laundry baskets are great for "nests", place a large towel or small blanket inside to line it, but dont overdo it, she will feel more secure deeper in the nest. Place the nest inside a closet, in a dim corner behind furniture in whatever room you chose. You can show her or place her inside the nest, granted she will probably just walk away and show no interest, but she knows it is there. If you are at home when she gives birth, you can also move the nesting box to whatever spot she is favoring. No matter how much you prepare, some females will chose their own spot to have the kittens, which may include inside a closet on a pile of clothes! If she does have the kittens in a spot of her choice, don't think that you did anything wrong, usually you can simply move the nest and place the litter inside of it on whatever clothing, towel...etc, that she chose to have them. Sometimes the mother will simply move them right back to where she wants them to be...and then you just sort of have to accept her decision! In the end she will want to be in the place with the most privacy. With the excitement, its hard not to peek in often for a glimpse at the babies, but try to keep the visits few and short. I hope everythinggoes well. Congratulations and good luck!
