6 Months of age sounds about the time she would be going into heat, so that is very likely what you are seeing. If, however, you are unsure that is the problem, I would definitely have her looked at by your vet! Good luck!

Though 6 months is a likely age for heat to start, the blood would be coming from the vagina. Verify where the blood is coming from. If it is indeed coming from the rectum, she could have an abscess or infection in her anal glands, which are located on either side of the rectum. Usually, the pet will lick the area of the rectum, swelling can be apparent, and scooting is sometimes observed This is frequently treated with anti-inflammatories and antibiotics.
