My dog has a fowl smelling thick discharge coming out of her vaginal area, what is this? Could she be getting ready to go into heat?

Hi there,
Sorry to hear about your dog, it sound like it could be a pyometra which is an infection in the womb, you say that she has not been neutered. It would be unusual at this age for a 'pyo' but not unheard of.
If she is coming in to season the discharge is usually straw coloured, with red tinges and spotting.
Is she well in her self, eating and drinking normally?
I think it would be worth popping her to your vets for a thorough examination.
If it is a pyometra then she will need to be speyed, if in season then it will clear up on its own, but it is hard to determine by emails so it would be safer to get her checked out.
Hope all is ok.
