pregnant and has worms

I just got a 3 year old cat who is 5 weeks pregnant and has worms. Definitly tape worms so probably others. She's also underweight. Is it safe to worm her? I have put her on a high quality kitten food hoping to get weight on her. Thanks for your help.

yes if you contact your veterinary centre they will be able to supply you with a good wormer such as panacur that is safe to use in pregnant animals, and they will be able to advise on doses, this should hopefully help her put on some weight as well but continue with the kitten food until kittens are weaned so she has plenty of nutrition and energy for birth and raising her kittens. good luck
