My cat went to the vet yesterday. She has a bladder infection and was given antibiotics and steriod. Today she is having spasms due to pain I'm sure, and blood coming from that area. She also is laying in her litter box for hours at a time. Should I give her meds time to work or should I continue to be really concerned for her life and return to the vet immediately?

I would suggest going back to your Vet immediately. Your cat should be more comfortable than it sounds it is. Is there something else going on such as blockage (rare in a female but it is possible there is a stone in the bladder blocking any urine from leaving) This can be life threatening. They also make anti spasm medication which we occasionally use. Also did you have any labwork besides the urine evaluation? Sometimes cats will also have renal problems along with the bladder problems. Your cat could have an infection in the kidney's and the bladder. The kidney infections can be very painful. I wish you the best of luck.

Thank you for your information. She is currently in the vet hospital for a short stay. They are testing her kidneys as well. I hope she gets well soon. Once again, thanks for the timely response!
