My cat is 4 years old. She was found at around the age of 2 weeks or so wiht her brother, abandoned by her mother. She was taken in a fed with a dropper and has now grown into a healthy cat. I am wondering if her demeanor comes from her unfortunate beginnings. She is very defensive. She will bite for no reason especially on your hands. The biting is quite obessive one cannot ever really pet her. She also does not ever purr. I am just very concerned about her and know that she could be so much more loving. Is there anything I can do?

Yes it could be the fact that her mother was not able to teach her to stop biting. Try hand feeding her using something really tasty like ham and do not attempt to just stroke her for a while. If she bites just stand up and walk away form her and do not tell her off. Play games that include a toy on the end of a stick. In time she might become more of a cuddle kitten but unfortunately not all cats want to be and we do not have a clear idea of her parentage.
All the best
