How do you trim hamsters' claws (nails?)

buy some cat nail clippers or small pet nail clippers. you will need another person to hold the hamster. trim the ends. they have tiny blood vessels in their nails so only take the tips off if you cut a blood vessel just hold some cotton wool on til it stops. it can be very tricky as they are very wriggly so you may decide to get a vet or nurse to do it. good luck

Thanks again. I know that bird cages are often lined with sand paper like liner sheets. Does it make sense to line a hamster cage with this sort of product to keep their nails trim?

i wouldn't it might be too rough for them wood shavings are an ideal bedding for hamsters.
