Theo is about 2 months old and has a very sore looking left eye. Right eye is normal, but area around left eye looks swollen and irritated. He might have been scratched by a cage-mate. Should I treat this? How?

there is not much you will be able to use to treat a scratch or infection without a trip to the vets, however you can try wiping around the eye with warm water and cotton wool. if you suspect fighting between cage mates which is very common with hamsters especially when they meet sexual maturity you will need to seperate them as next time they may cut eachothers skin or worse. also puch the skin over his eyes to check his eye has not prolapsed(popped out) as this is very common with hamsters too. the eye will look more protuded than the other.
good luck
