Neuro changes in cat

  • Chino

Wondering if you can help me with my 8yo. neutered male cat. Last night I heard him crying and when I went to see what was wrong, he was trying to walk but was stumbleing all over the place. His head was also moving back and forth from left to right. He did know me but seemed to be a little disoriented at the same time. He also lost control of his bowels which I spotted later on the rug. He did this about 4 or 5 months ago but I thought he may have eaten something outside and was having a reaction. Now I don't think so since he wasn't outside yesterday except for about 20 minutes in the morning.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

Symptoms: head tilt, behavioral, paralysis, urine & incontinence

the symptoms soound like a stroke, animals don't have strokes in the same way as humans but the signs are similar, there is not much treatment just supportive care, so reassurance monitor food and drinking, monitor quality of life and overall character of him. the signs should reverse but if he still has a head tilt or incontinence then id advise taking him to the vets. it is difficult to say if and when this will happen again, it might never or it could happen again in the near future.

    hope this helps.
