croaky miaow

Rating: 9
cariad

My cat lost her miaow a couple of months ago. I took her to the vets who said it could be chronic laryngitis. He gave her an injection and tablets. The miaow came back quite quickly. But now she is sounding hoarse again. What could be the problem?

it does sound like laryngitis which has reoccurred once the medication has wore off, if it is not bothering her and no other symptoms, you can either just monitor or take to vets for another dose of medication. itching and scratching may be unrelated problem check for ear infection or fleas/mites.good luck

Thank you. She has also lost a bit of hair on top of both ears, near the head. It feels slightly crusty. Could this be ringworm?

with ringworm their is hair loss in the area, the skin looks red and inflamed and can be hair loss in circles. it does go crusty and scabby and is very itchy so she will probably be itching quite a bit.

there are some pictures which might help you confirm if it is ringworm

if it is ringworm, maintain a good level of hygiene as you can get it, wash hands after fussing her and keep contact to a minimum.

    good luck
